Vista View does the right thing by including a stereo mini-jack to RCA cable for the audio line-in plus an s-video to composite video adapter. Some vendors leave one or both of these little cables out!
Digital results in a clear picture depending on the source of course , no analog noise is introduced. For a more torturous test I connected up my trusty Zenith SilverSensor and saw how well the Saber could pull in channels under far from ideal circumstances. This should come as no suprise as they use the same LG demodulator.
Looking for a PCI Express version? Since the card is effectively identical the performance and image quality should be exactly the same. While using a PC-based TV tuner always involves certain compromises in quality , we found the image quality of live and recorded programming to be excellent, with no discernable difference between the live and the recorded signals.
The card's onboard hardware encoder handled two video inputs simultaneously, without any stuttering or slowdown. Remember that you'll need a free x1 PCI Express slot to use the card and that, unlike your cable-company DVR box, you'll need two different signals to use the dual tuners to watch one show while recording another or watch two shows at once with picture-in-picture.
Also, note that Vista View has fixed some initial bugs with driver updates, and you should download the latest drivers before installing the card. VistaView Saber 1 Viewer. Good price, good value etc What's your take on the card? I haven't seen it in the supported list. However there are a lot of references to people who seem to be using it successfully.
Does it work with Media Portal 0. Does it work with TvEngine 0. Did you have to do anything special to get it to work with both applications? Any advice you offer would be great. Thanks guys Juston. Yes Yes Not that I know of.
December 7, 32 0. Well I bought the card yesterday and it worked in MediaPortal with the default firmware v1. After a update to the latest firmware and drivers it won't be recognized by MP. The reason why I updated, is because with the default firmware and drivers I got an error when I recorded something from live TV.
The error caused MP to close down. The strange thing is, in Windows Media Center the card works perfectly. I also checked the file CaptureCardDefinitions.
